Ok, so today we were supposed to go on a walking tour of Tel Aviv, but to be honest, we had to go back to Jaffe. Yesterday, the tour didn't really explore the city enough for us! We slept in a bit, and then took a cab over to the old port. We visited the center again, and just marveled at the scenery. To think that we could see the same view that Simon Peter did was a bit overwhelming! If you look closely, you can see people walking on a beautiful stone promenade. We walked that back to Tel Aviv (3 miles) and it was breathtaking!

We also found the tribute to Jonah, well, actually not to Jonah, just to the whale!

Then we returned to the home of Simon the Tanner. We read the story from Acts while sitting outside the door to the house. We could see the roof top and it was so easy to imagine Simon Peter laying there in the bright sun, resting. No angels came to speak to us, although the energy is palpable.

Then, finally, the doors to Saint Peter's Church opened (the hours were posted but apparently not adhered to!). It was magnificent. Built here in honor of the story of Simon Peter (the catholic church's first pope) and the visit from the angel while at Simon the Tanner's, the large painting at the front of the church depicts Simon Peter on the rooftop talking to the angel and the sheet of common animals floating overhead. We sat in the church for about a half an hour, just soaking in the atmosphere and praying and thinking.

The final picture is of me and Napoleon. Napoleon came through Jaffe on his crusade and left over 300 soldiers sick with malaria. They were given orders to rejoin the army when the recovered, but surprising, none decided to rejoin. He was only one of the many conquerors, but they chose to mark the spot where he abandoned his men. See, I have my hand in my pocket, Napoleon style, even though it doesn't look it!!
